2010 National Scout Jamboree

What is the National Jamboree?
Every four years, the National Council of the Boy Scouts of America organizes the ultimate Boy Scout experience, the National Jamboree! In 2005, over 40,000 Scouts and Scouters attended the Jamboree. Activities include: rifle shooting, scuba diving, fishing, trapshooting, canoe slalom, rappelling towers, pioneering, kayaking, a huge merit badge midway, daily stage shows, and much, much more!

Qualifications:
It is anticipated that a Scout must have completed the sixth grade or be at least 12 years old by July 1, 2010; attain the rank of First Class by July 1, 2010; have a completed Class 3 National Jamboree phyiscal issued to each participant by the national office of the BSA; participate in the pre-jamboree training; be activie in his troop six months prior to July 1, 2010; and be approved by his Scoutmaster and the Blue Ridge Mountains Council. His 18th birthday may not be before August 2, 2010.

Organization, Transportation, Food and Equipment:

Participants will be placed in Blue Ridge Mountains Council troops. Once troops are formed and leaders are selected, participants receive information through the Jamboree Troop Scoutmaster. It is anticipated that we will have four troops, each consisting of 36 Scouts and four adult leaders.

Cost:
The total estimated cost for youth participants will be $1,050. This fee includes transportation to and from the Jamboree, special patches, patrol and troop equipment, and a Jamboree training weekend.


Application:
Due to the 100th Anniversary, an overwhelming response is expected. You will need to apply early to ensure your place in line, as spaces will be filled on a first-come first-served basis. While the official applications for the 2010 Jamboree are not yet available, you may ensure your place in line by clicking here and filling out the pre-registration form.
