Celebrating 97 Years:
paradeFor 97 years, no other youth program has done more for the country and our community. The aims of the Boy Scouts of America are to build character, develop citizenship and foster personal fitness. The Boy Scouts of America has trained more young men to be leaders, men of character, men of religious conviction and men of integrity. It is proven fact that boys in Scouts get better grades, are more likely to go to college, more likely to get big paying jobs and more likely to be our future leaders than those not in Scouts.

President Gerald Ford, man of great integrity, was an Eagle Scout. Steve Foss, millionaire and world record holder, is an Eagle Scout. Steven Spielberg, famous film director, is also an Eagle Scout. And there are many more all around us, training to be the great leaders of our community.

Our kids face greater challenges everyday. We need as many kids in our character education program as we can take. You can refer kids to join, donate money to support Scouting, or volunteer a little of you time for the cause. Call Michael Montgomery, the Field Director, at (540) 777.7976 or visit the web at joinscouting.org. As we now celebrate our 97th year, take a look at the great things that Dan River (Halifax and Pittsylvania counties) Scouts have done.
