Why We Sell Popcorn

Take a moment and think of all the things you would like your unit to be able to do but are limited financially. Would you like to have new camping equipment, Scout books for everyone, pay for Boys Life for the unit, provide scholarships to summer camp or maybe even a trip to Philmont? These goals are attainable through selling popcorn.

Popcorn is a fantastic fundraiser! The BSA handles the orders, shipping and advertisement, and your unit provides the youth to go and find people to buy it. 

As well as the financial rewards of the program, it also helps youth develop new skills. They learn goal setting, responsibility, new communication skills and relationship skills, and they learn about following through and customer service.  Adult support is key to these boys being successful. They need adults to accompany them while selling and to help them with the orders and money. A boy with a great drive to sell can be stifled by adults that lack the enthusiasm and willingness to devote the time.
