Powhatan is the largest of the camps on the Scout Reservation. It offers the greatest variety of activities for Scouts and BSA Leasers. Although the largest, the campsites are spread out offering a small camp atmosphere at each camp site. Scouts can sleep in canvas tents or adirondacks. All camps have modern shower facilities.
There are over 40 Merit Badges offered, including some of the hard to get Eagle required badges. The high-tech Nature center offers not only merit badges, but also displays of local animal life.
The large waterfront offers a full range of activities to include swimming lessons, Swimming Merit Badge, BSA Lifeguard, Mile Swim, kayaking, canoeing, and the Blob.
BSA Leaders can take a variety of training classes during their stay. Classes can include CPR First Aid, Scoutmaster Specific, Wilderness First Aid, and others. Most of the training is done in air-conditioned training rooms.
The modern health loadge is staffed 24-hours daily by qualified personal for treating minor issues as well as teach health related Merit Badges.
Multiple shooting ranges offer shotgun, rifle, pistol, and archery classes. Most evenings offer open shooting for Scouts and leaders.
A large, well equipped dining hall serves three meals daily during camp. Coffee is available for Leaders.
