The Blue Ridge Mountains Council of Roanoke VA has announced the appointment of Robert Garrett as the new Scout executive, effective September 1st, 2024. Robert comes with a wealth of experience and knowledge in Scouting, making him the perfect candidate to lead the Council in delivering quality Scouting experiences to the young people of the communities they serve.

The volunteer executive board of the Blue Ridge Mountains Council is thrilled to welcome Robert Garrett to the team. Robert has a passion for Scouting and a strong dedication to helping young people develop essential life skills through the Scouting program. His leadership will be instrumental in guiding the Council towards achieving its mission of instilling values of leadership, character, and service in the youth members.

Robert began his Scouting career in 1998 as a District Executive at the Atlanta Area Council in Atlanta, Ga. He moved on to become the Program Director at the Daniel Boone Council in Asheville NC, Then as Outdoor Programs and Facilities Director for the Three Harbors Council in Milwaukee WI, and Assistant Scout Executive at the Daniel Boone Council in Asheville NC. He has most recently served as the Scout Executive for the Shenandoah Area CouncilRobert is an Eagle Scout and Vigil Honor member of the Order of the Arrow who enjoys Smoking BBQ, woodworking, reading and traveling.

Robert and Michelle have four children, Matthew, 24 (Sandra), Benjamin 21, Katherine 14 Star Scout & William 12 First Class Scout.

As Scout Executive, Robert will work closely with the volunteers and staff of the Blue Ridge Mountains Council to deliver impactful programs and initiatives that positively impact the lives of Scouts in the community. He will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Council, implementing strategic plans, and fostering relationships with community partners to support Scouting programs.

The Blue Ridge Mountains Council is confident that Robert's leadership will inspire and empower Scouts to reach their full potential. His commitment to the Scouting movement and his passion for youth development make him a valuable addition to the Council's team. Robert's vision, dedication, and enthusiasm will undoubtedly elevate the Scouting experience for young people in the region.
